This is my Bible. It is God's Holy Word.
It is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Its Word will I hide in my heart, that I might not sin against God.
Today I will not just listen to the Word, but I will commit to doing what it says!
With Jesus help, Amen!
Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
HOW DO I ENGAGE WITH JESUS?
- Commit to life a life of faith. (Throw off everything that hinders)
“Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, takes off your relish for spiritual things, whatever increases the authority of the body over mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may seem in itself.”
Now notice how Jesus Engaged with God for us…
“…who for the joy set before him he endured my suffering, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
- He took my sin. When he said this, he took my suffering. He took on himself our sin.
- He erased my shame; (he erased my past)
Hebrews 10:11-12 Msg
“Every priest goes to work at the altar each day, offers the same old sacrifices year in, year out, and never makes a dent in the sin problem. As a priest, Christ made a single sacrifice for sins, and that was it! Then he sat down right beside God and waited for his enemies to cave in. It was a perfect sacrifice by a perfect person to perfect some very imperfect people. By that single offering, he did everything that needed to be done for everyone who takes part in the purifying process.
If you are struggling today,
God does fix broken people and He does that as we Engage with Jesus!
