Leviticus 19:1-2,9-18
“The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.”
Our Salvation experience gives us a change of status but not a change of lifestyle!
Jesus calls us to lives of ongoing conversion, lives where we never stop pursing completeness and wholeness!
Matthew 28: 19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Being His Disciple means I am Living in the Way of Jesus! It involves:
- Surrendering: Luke 9:23-24
- Abiding: John 15:1, 4
- Reflecting: 2 Corinthians 3:18
- Revealing Truth: John 1:43-51
- Restoring Community: John 5:13-16
- Relating with Others: Galatians 6:2, Hebrews 10:24
- Imitating Jesus: Mark 6:7, I Corinthians 11:1
ARE YOU A DISCIPLE OR ARE YOU A CONVERT?
Ephraim Radner writes,
“The unbounded God provides his creatures time and space in which to distinguish his gifts through obedience to his commands, thereby granting them the intimacy of his otherwise inaccessible being . . .
Holiness is a calling to be with God where God is and where God goes -- and his own going, to us in our creation and redemption, is all that is holy.”
