“A Free Joy”
Luke 2:10-11, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! (NLT)
What can threaten our Joy at Christmas?
Ecclesiastes 5:3, “Too much activity gives you restless dreams; to many words make you a fool.”
Too much BUSY can become a habit. Sometimes it is a habit I must break!
Psalm 90:12, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Luke 2:16, “So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in a manger.”
Christmas should not be an event for Christians:
IT IS THE EVENT!
- Focus on the Joy of Christmas instead of who or what is missing.
Psalm 10:14, “but you see the trouble and grief they cause. You take note of it and punish them. The helpless put their trust in you. You defend the orphans.”
- Grief is an emotional response to loss and it is to be expected!
Give yourself time to heal.
Give yourself to God in prayer.
Give to others in need.
2 Corinthians 1:4, “he comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”
Psalm 25:16, “Turn to me and have mercy, for I am alone and in deep distress.”
How we deal with Loneliness?
Recognize and Decide
- God is with me.
Psalm 68:6, “God places the lonely in families; He sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.”
- I will be with others.
CHRIST HAS A PLAN TO DEAL WITH OUR BUSYNESS, GRIEF, AND LONELINESS!
We must decide to submit to His plan!
