Engage: Exodus – Part 2

Exodus 23:20-26
We need to discover these basic Christian principles from the truth of God's Word…
GOD'S PROMISE OF GUIDANCE
  1. HE WILL SEND HIS ANGEL AHEAD OF US
Exodus 23:20 " 20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared."

Palms 34:7 "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them."

Gal. 5:25 (NIV) "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."

2. HE WILL GUARD US ALONG THE WAY
Exodus 23:20 "20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared."

Here are some types of paths that we will have to take:
  • THE UNFAMILIAR PATH.
Isa. 42:16 (NIV) "I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them."
  • THE DARKEST PATH
Psalms 23:4 (NIV) "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
  • THE SLIPPERY PATH.
Psalms 35:6 (NIV) "may their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them."
What is the solution when this thing happens?

Trust God. Commit your life to Him.
Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Worship Him and Him only.
3.  HE WILL BRING US TO THE PLACE HE HAS PREPARED FOR USExodus 23:20 "20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared."

John 14: 1-3 (NIV) "“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

Heb. 11:6 (NIV) "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

And so, God has planned to guide you along the way,
 every step of your journey,
  one step at a time.

“Engage in Exodus – Part 1” Exodus 3:1-12

The Fire was not Consuming the Bush

  • It was because of the presence of God's Fire that made it different.

  • With God's Fire the Bush became God's Dwelling Place.

  • With God's Fire, this bush became God's Mouthpiece.

God is looking for people to tell others about salvation, redemption, renewal and restoration. God is looking for people to be His mouthpiece.

  • With God's Fire, this bush became a place of purity and transformation.

  • With God's Fire this bush became an Everlasting Witness.

We have these stories in the church universal.
We have these stories in the Church of the Nazarene.
We have the stories in GracePointe.

And today…
God is waiting to send His Spirit upon you, in you and through you…
so that your bush never burns up!

Engage Genesis: The Beginnings Part 1 & 2

  • We are God’s creatures, made to serve, honor, and worship him.

  • Sin and wrongdoing had now found a home in God’s good world.

God is working to make sure his plans for the world will surely happen.
He is determined to bring life and restoration
back to his people and his creation.

.
  • God will pick some of the most unlikely people to advance his cause of bringing heaven and earth together again.

God is working in and through the story to bring life and restoration.
But it doesn’t always happen quickly,
 and
God’s people must live with hope and patience.

  • God wants to bless the entire world through the descendants of Jacob, the nation of Israel.

The Spirit is intimately involved in Creation.

He breathed into his nostrils the Spirit of life and the man became a living being.

  • The Spirit Brings Life!

John 1:1-4, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men.”

  • Without God’s Spirit there is no life!

Acts 17:24-28, “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all life and breath and everything else. …. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’

The Holy Spirit is Active in Creation and has Implications…

  • The Spirit breaks down the divide between sacred and secular!

  • The Spirit brings a Redemptive Life!

The incredible thing is that the Spirit allows us and enables us to Journey with him in the Recreation of Heaven on Earth and the Recreation of People!

    David Craig, Pastor

I began my journey as the Lead Pastor in June 2011.  Prior to coming to Shreveport I served in Texas, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.  I studied religion and music at Southern Nazarene University and received my M.A. degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary.

I was raised in a Christian home where I was exposed to the Lord at an early age.  As a junior in high school I felt a call to serve Jesus for a lifetime in the ministry.

I and my wife, Dawn, have two sons. Caleb is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University and Adam attends ULM in Monroe, La

In my spare time I enjoy sports of all kinds, but especially the Texas Longhorns.
