Community Bible Experience – “Dealing with Life’s Issues” Galatians 6:1-10

The Bible has 3 interesting statements about our Life’s Issues:

  1. CARRY ONE ANOTHER'S BURDENS (v. 2)

"Brothers’, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently.  But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted." (Galatians 6:1) Then he says, "Carry one another's burdens, & so fulfill the law of Christ."

  1. EACH ONE SHOULD CARRY HIS OWN LOAD (v. 5)

Galatians 6:5 tells us that "Each one should bear his own burden."

  1. STRIVE TO PLEASE THE SPIRIT & DO NOT GIVE UP! (vs. 6-10)

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked.”

  • That is the law of planting and it is a principle of God. (7)

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
  • Do not grow weary- Plant the seed! (v.9)

Plant the seed of the word of God (you grow first and then others)

Plant by loving someone (love them by mentoring/cultivating someone)

Plant the seed of service (We are all on a journey, walk with someone and help them go in the right direction.)

“As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (10)
  • Plant the seed                       Tend to the field                    God gives the increase

YOU CAN DEAL WITH LIFES ISSUES BY…

CASTING YOUR CARES UPON THE LORD

Psalm 55:22
“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you;
he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

Community Bible Experience – Week 2 “Don’t Lose Faith”

Acts 12:1-12:19
Background and history:

Peter was doing what he was told to do:

Spread the gospel, be a servant for the Lord Jesus Christ. What happens?
Not for any reason of his own, he is placed in jail, he is put in prison,
he is being detained and persecuted for something the Lord Himself told him to do.

There are two ways you can react.
(1) Be mad at God and give up:
 (2) Know that you are doing all that you know to do and be praying that God will honor what you are doing and intercede and do something amazing.
Let’s start with Peters side:

The other side was the church earnestly praying:

Prayer appears easy to do, but reality, is hard.
Prayer is communication with God and you won’t have a good prayer life if you are not in an active relationship with the Lord.
  • It was the power of God that provided Peters escape.
  • It was the power of God that sent the angel.
  • It was the power of God that loosed those chains.
  • It was the power of God that opened that gate.

How can you become a prayer warrior?
One who looks to the impossible because with God all things are possible!
Don’t Lose Faith…

Community Bible Experience – “It’s About Jesus”
Luke 9:18-36……….

 Luke 9:18:27….
Jesus tells the Disciples 4 things:
  • Don’t tell anyone about what they just said! v21:

  • Jesus told them that He must die but will rise from the dead! v22:

  •  Jesus reminded them of what a Disciple is! v23:
deny self = belong to Christ not to self!
take up cross = “kill” self = say no to sin!
follow Christ = listen and obey!

  • Jesus gives promises! v24-27:

What are the Biblical Principles for us to apply?
1.  Who is Jesus to you personally?

2.  If someone asks you, “who is Jesus?”, can you share truths Jesus would approve?

3.  A Believer of Jesus Christ is called to be His Disciple. Luke 9:23

4.  Live your life with the Promises from Jesus Christ!  Luke 9:24

 Luke 9:28-33
Don’t get ahead of Jesus. Luke 9:33
We Listen to Jesus. Luke 9:34-36

What Biblical principles can we note and apply to our own lives?

 ·         God desires to reveal His glory to people!

·         God and Jesus are speaking, through the Holy Spirit!

·         Jesus desires an intimate relationship with each one of us!

Community Bible Experience – “Never Forget”  Joshua 4:1-7 (NIV)

WHAT DO THE MEMORIAL STONES REPRESENT?
  • TO REMIND ISRAEL THAT THEY BELONG TO GOD. (4:2, 7)
Joshua 4: 2 “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe,3 and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.”

4:7 “tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”

Therefore, consider yourselves dead to sin and alive in Christ.
  • TO REMIND ISRAEL THAT THEY NOW HAVE A NEW IDENTITY. (11-13)

The accounts of the Lord's Supper are found in all the four Gospels:
Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22 and in John 13.

1 Cor. 11:27-29. "Therefore, whoever east the bread of drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and the blood of the Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who

Therefore, the goal is to make sure that the memorial is always a source of thanksgiving, of generating fresh faith and utter dependency upon Christ's work of salvation
.
  • TO REMIND ISRAEL THAT THEY HAVE A MISSION IN THE EARTH. (4:23-24)

We must never forget our heritage. But we have a problem:
Most of us have a hard time connecting to the Bible.

  • The number of Bible readers have fallen by one fifth in a single generations time.

  • 4 out of 5 of us don’t get the help we need understanding the Scripture.

  • What’s Keeping us from engaging in the word?
We read in fragments. We read without context. We read in isolation.

  • There’s a better way to read: Read Big, Read Real, Read Together.

  • But it’s also a fresh approach to the Bible.
    • Read the entire New Testament in 8 weeks starting October 9th.
    • Share the Journey together.

How it works…
  • Read or listen to 12ish pages per day (Monday – Friday)
It takes around 30 minutes a day.

  • Join a small group to share what you have learned
(Wednesday 6:45 pm, Thursday 1pm, Sunday 9 am)

GracePointe we must never forget what great things He has done…
We must never forget the meaning of those Biblical monuments.

We must never forget the meaning of the water baptism,
the meaning of the Lord's Supper,
and the meaning & benefit of Reading His Word!

    David Craig, Pastor

I began my journey as the Lead Pastor in June 2011.  Prior to coming to Shreveport I served in Texas, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.  I studied religion and music at Southern Nazarene University and received my M.A. degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary.

I was raised in a Christian home where I was exposed to the Lord at an early age.  As a junior in high school I felt a call to serve Jesus for a lifetime in the ministry.

I and my wife, Dawn, have two sons. Caleb is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University and Adam attends ULM in Monroe, La

In my spare time I enjoy sports of all kinds, but especially the Texas Longhorns.
