Holiness For Hurting People – “The Pursuit of Holiness”

Hebrews 12:14 –“Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.”

What is Holiness and why do I need it?

v God’s Word requires it ( I Peter 1:13-16) …
 v God’s Work requires it (Acts 1:8) …
v Our World demands it (Eph. 3:19b) …
v Our Walk demands it (Rom.8:5-8) …

Holiness produces RECONCILIATION with God, Ourselves, and Others.

v Sin is the ROADBLOCK to holiness.
v The heartbeat of sin is REBELLION against God.
Rom.5:12 tells us that …”by one man/Adam, sin entered into the world”.

                                                               Sin is a 2-fold problem
v The ACTS of SIN …
Making a deliberate CHOICE to live in disobedience to God.
Rom.3:23/6:23 … for all have sinned … the wages of our sin is death.

v Sin NATURE …

An inherited condition of the HEART, causing rebellion against God … and, causing our self-will and sinful life.

                                                           Now what is the REMEDY?
The REMEDY of sin is seen in the holiness of God for all who will be SAVED from their acts of sin and ENTIRELY SANCTIFIED … filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit… cleansed from their sin nature.

v It begins with accepting God’s remedy for SIN – both in your salvation and your entire sanctification – and continues with a life-long JOURNEY of discipleship and RECOVERY.

                                                                  How to Win the Battle?

God’s Resources are available for the Journey…

1. The Truth of God’s Word …
2. God’s Holy Spirit …
3. Prayer …
4. Roots of God’s love …
5. Spiritual Armor …
6. People …

Listen to Paul’s list … Eph. 4:25-5:15 and Eph. 1:3-14

With God’s resources active in our lives, we can “Break Through the Chains” that bind us and hold us back from a holy life!

    David Craig, Pastor

I began my journey as the Lead Pastor in June 2011.  Prior to coming to Shreveport I served in Texas, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.  I studied religion and music at Southern Nazarene University and received my M.A. degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary.

I was raised in a Christian home where I was exposed to the Lord at an early age.  As a junior in high school I felt a call to serve Jesus for a lifetime in the ministry.

I and my wife, Dawn, have two sons. Caleb is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University and Adam attends ULM in Monroe, La

In my spare time I enjoy sports of all kinds, but especially the Texas Longhorns.
