Part 6 – “Toxic Talk to Constructive Communication”
Ephesians 4: 29-30 “ Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
In Chapter Three, James gives us some examples of the Power the tongue can hold:
- The Power to Guide (V. 2-5)
The Power to Destroy (v. 5-8)
- The Power to Delight …( v.9-12)
Words that can transform our lives … bring springs of water … life and cleansing. Here they are … “Please” … “Thank you” … “I’m Sorry”…”Please Forgive Me”… “I Love You” … “I’m Praying for You”.
Paul gives us the way to change from this inconsistency …
The word is TRANSFORMATION …
Confess that you are powerless to change your addiction to “toxic talk” and ask God to forgive you.
Then, claim God’s grace and power to transform your heart.
Then, your tongue/your toxic words will change to delight.
